The two most common finishes at the time were oil and lacquer. Osmo wanted to combine the advantages of these finishes into a single natural product that offers the very best protection for your wood.

All Osmo finishes are based on natural oils and waxes. The various raw materials used are: sunflower oil, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, linseed oil, soybean oil, and thistle oil. The advantage of an oil-based product is that it preserves the natural properties of the wood. It provides a natural and environmentally friendly finish without health risks. The various pigments used in the products are even approved for use in the food industry and are produced from purified and renewable plant-based raw materials.
