Treating acacia wood with Osmo
Acacia wood is best treated with Osmo TopOil 3028 Silk Matt. This colorless product deepens the color of the acacia wood, giving it a tint as if it has been wet. This brings out the wood grain beautifully. After treatment, the wood is protected against moisture, dirt, and stains. Treating an acacia wood tabletop is very easy with TopOil. In a few simple steps, the wood is treated and well protected.
How to treat an acacia wood table?
The right product is therefore TopOil. We explain step by step how best to apply this product to the acacia wood. You will also find a handy instructional video on applying the Oil.
Treating an acacia wood table
1. Shake the product well for 2 minutes. After opening the can, the Oil and Wax are separated.
2. Apply the first layer of TopOil to the acacia wood using a white pad or brush on the new or sanded wood, and then buff it out with a white pad. Apply this along the wood grain.
3. Within 20 minutes, dry-buff the TopOil with the fleece pad. Also apply this along the wood grain. This ensures that not too much product is applied.
4. Mistakes made during application can be corrected on the wet surface up to 30 minutes after application. Think of roller marks or brush hairs.
5. The drying time for the first coat is approximately 8-10 hours (at 23 degrees and 50% relative humidity). Drying takes longer at lower temperatures or higher humidity. Good ventilation must be ensured at all times. Therefore, make sure windows and doors are open.
6. Apply the second, third, and even fourth coat in the same way as the first coat.
7. TopOil takes approximately 8-10 hours to dry.
If you are going to polish the surface, it is important to apply 3 to 4 coats. This is to adequately protect the surface against moisture and stains.
Lacquering Acacia Wood
Acacia wood can therefore be lacquered with Osmo TopOil. Lacquering is another word for treating. Osmo TopOil consists of a combination of natural, plant-based oils and waxes. The oil provides a beautiful appearance to the wood, and the wax creates a protective layer. Together, these two ingredients ensure natural protection for the wood.
Acacia wood maintenance
Maintaining acacia wood treated with Osmo is quite simple. For regular cleaning of the tabletop, the Spray Cleaner is the right product. This Cleaner not only cleans the wood, but also nourishes the wood and the treatment at the same time. This ensures that the wood wears down less quickly. If the acacia wood does start to show slight wear, the Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax Spray can help refresh these areas. This spray restores the wax content on the wood.
