Treating concrete
Untreated concrete is porous and can quickly stain, absorb moisture, and crumble. By impregnating it with Osmo Concrete Oil, the surface becomes water- and dirt-repellent and remains beautiful and dust-free for longer.

What is the best way to treat concrete?
Concrete floors, kitchen countertops, and walls are currently very popular. The beautiful grey concrete look on the floor fits perfectly with a modern interior. Concrete is also very practical and is therefore widely used for garage floors and kitchen countertops. It is wise to treat concrete with a concrete oil. By impregnating concrete, you ensure that it becomes water-repellent, preventing dirt and moisture from penetrating the floor. Without treatment, stains will certainly appear on the floor, and there is also a risk that the concrete will crumble. The best concrete impregnator is Osmo Concrete Oil. This penetrates the concrete and actively protects against moisture and dirt!

What is concrete?
Concrete is a stony material composed of the binder cement and materials such as sand or gravel. A characteristic of concrete is that it hardens upon the addition of water. High-quality concrete is a creation in which the grain sizes of the sand and gravel, in the correct quantities, cause the mixture to harden into a stony and solid material.
Concrete has a porous structure; this means that concrete allows water or air to pass through, as it contains many fine openings. Therefore, to protect the concrete and enjoy it for longer, it must be oiled.
What is beton ciré?
Beton ciré is a thin finish that is typically only a few millimeters thick. This allows it to be applied to existing surfaces without requiring significant changes to the surface structure. Beton ciré is often used to give surfaces such as floors, walls, countertops, and furniture a contemporary and industrial look. Beton ciré can be used on various substrates, including concrete, wood, drywall, and even tiles. It is often applied in bathrooms, kitchens, and other indoor spaces.
What is trowel-finished concrete?
Trowel-finished concrete, also known as polished concrete, is a special finishing technique for concrete surfaces to achieve a smooth, glossy, and durable result. This technique is often used for floors. The most distinctive part of the process is troweling the concrete. This is done using a machine with rotating discs with diamond or steel abrasives. These discs polish the surface of the concrete and create a smooth, glossy appearance. During troweling, water is often used to facilitate the process and reduce dust formation.

By impregnating concrete, you make it waterproof.
Osmo Concrete Oil is a colorless, oil- and wax-based product. The Concrete Oil is perfect for treating all indoor concrete. The oil dries to a satin matte finish, giving it a slight sheen. The treatment does not create a thick layer on the concrete; instead, it penetrates deep into the concrete. Thanks to the treatment, the concrete becomes stain-resistant and water- and dirt-repellent. The treatment also significantly reduces substances originating from the concrete.
Osmo Concrete Oil enhances the natural color of the concrete. After treatment, the concrete becomes slightly darker, as if it has been wetted. You can therefore test the effect of the Concrete Oil yourself by slightly dampening a piece of concrete.
Protecting concrete against moisture
By impregnating the concrete with Osmo Concrete Oil, the concrete is protected against moisture and dirt. It is therefore not a problem if you accidentally spill a drink on the concrete. The liquids remain on the surface without soaking into the concrete. Ideal for families with small children.
Treat concrete yourself
Treating and impregnating a kitchen countertop or floor with Osmo Concrete Oil is very easy. In the following steps, we show you how to impregnate concrete yourself.
1. Remove dust from the concrete surface using a vacuum cleaner.
2. Stir the Concrete Oil well, as the oil and wax separate after opening the can.
3. Apply the product very thinly using an Osmo Brush, Block Brush, or Microfiber Roller, and roll/brush it out well.
4. Allow the oil to soak in for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove excess product with a fleece pad or lint-free cloth.
5. The liquid oil must be absorbed into the surface. No oil should remain on the surface.
6. Allow to dry for 8-10 hours. Ventilate well during drying.
7. Apply the second layer very thinly as well, let it soak in for 20 minutes, and remove any excess product once again. 8. When renovating already oiled surfaces, one coat on a cleaned surface is normally sufficient.
