Difference between Osmo Maintenance Wax and Osmo Maintenance Oil
Refurbishing and maintaining a wooden floor treated with Osmo Hardwax Oil can be done using various products. A different product is suitable for every situation. We are often asked what the difference is between Osmo Maintenance Wax and Maintenance Oil. In this blog, we explain the differences between these products and provide advice on when to use both.

Osmo Maintenance Wax
Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax is the ideal product for treating light wear. Over time, the heavily trafficked areas of the treated floor will start to wear. It is then recommended to treat these parts of the wood with Osmo Maintenance Wax. This product is also highly suitable for removing grease stains and shoe polish from the wood. Osmo Maintenance Wax is very user-friendly. You simply polish this product onto the wood and let it dry for just under an hour.
When do I use Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax?
The Maintenance Wax is ideal for refreshing and caring for heavily trafficked areas of the wood. Are you dealing with light wear spots? Then apply a thin layer of the Liquid Maintenance Wax to the surface. Have stubborn stains appeared on the wood? In that case, too, apply a thin layer of the Maintenance Wax to the wood.
With regular use (once every six months) of the Maintenance Wax, the surface is refreshed and stain resistance and wear resistance are improved.
Osmo Maintenance Wax drying time
The drying time of Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax is 40 minutes. During and after application, it is essential to ensure good ventilation, so open the windows and doors. The ideal drying temperature is also around 20 degrees. If the room is not well ventilated or the temperature deviates significantly, the drying time may be longer.

Variants
The Liquid Maintenance Wax is available in a colorless and a white variant. The colorless version 3029 is suitable for surfaces treated with Hardwax Oil Original. If you have a wooden floor treated with a white Osmo color, you can use Maintenance Wax White 3087.
Osmo Maintenance Oil
While Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax is suitable for refreshing worn areas, Osmo Maintenance Oil is specifically designed to provide the entire surface with a new protective layer. The Maintenance Oil is the diluted version of the Hardwax Oil. As a result, this product adheres well to already treated surfaces.
When do I use the Osmo Maintenance Oil?
When the surface is suffering from such severe wear that Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax can no longer repair it, switch to Osmo Maintenance Oil. By applying the Maintenance Oil to the wood at the right time, time-consuming sanding jobs can be avoided. The Maintenance Oil is also suitable for changing the gloss level of the surface. For example, if you have a wooden floor that has been treated with Hardwax Oil 3032 Silk Matt and you prefer a matte appearance, you can treat the floor with the Maintenance Oil Matt.
Osmo Intensive Cleaner
Before treating the wood with Osmo Maintenance Oil, it is advisable to first clean it with Osmo Intensive Cleaner. This powerful cleaner removes all ingrained dirt from the surface. The product cleans the surface and makes it ready for a new treatment.
Osmo Maintenance Oil Drying time
The drying time of this product is 3 to 4 hours. As with Osmo Liquid Maintenance Wax, good ventilation is required. With 1L you can treat 48m²; it is a very user-friendly product.
