What makes Osmo Fence Stain suitable for all exterior wood?

Osmo Fence Stain is a non-opaque, oil- and wax-based product. After treatment, a protected surface is created where the wood structure remains visible. The wooden surface is then resistant to water and dirt. This fence stain is very versatile; it can also be used on fences, doors, carports, facades, terraces, posts, pergolas, garden furniture, and garden sheds—essentially all outdoor wood.

Benefits of Natural Oil Stain

  • Primer and topcoat in one
  • UV-resistant, weather and water-repellent.
  • High yield, 1L = treats 26m²
  • Based on natural substances

The best stain for your wooden fence

Osmo natural fence stain is the best choice for treating your wooden fence. Applying it provides protection against UV radiation, water, dirt, algae, and fungi. Furthermore, the advantage of Osmo Stain is that it is based on natural oils, ensuring long-lasting protection for the wood. You do not need to reapply the stain to the (hard)wood fence every year. Typically, a treatment lasts between 3 and 6 years. Additionally, the fence stain has a very high coverage of 26 m² per liter. This coverage is at least twice as high compared to other stains.

Treatment tips: How do I stain a fence?

The first coat should be applied to rough or smooth wood, approx. 35 ml per m². Application errors can be corrected up to 15 minutes after applying the Fence Stain. The first coat dries in approx. 4-6 hours. Good ventilation must be ensured during this process (at the correct temperature of 23°C and 50% humidity). The second coat can be applied after drying. For renovation, one coat on a cleaned surface is generally sufficient. The second coat must dry for at least 12 hours.

Treat without sanding

Staining a fence without sanding sounds ideal. With Osmo, this is possible. New or untreated wood can be treated with an Osmo Stain of your choice. If the wood has turned grey, it can be de-greyed. De-greying the fence with the power gel ensures that the wood does not need to be sanded. This product ensures that the grey colour of the fence disappears and brings out the natural colour of the wood.

After treatment with Osmo Stain, the fence no longer needs to be sanded. Do you want to treat stained wood again in the future? Then a new coat can simply be applied. However, it is recommended to first clean the old fence with the Osmo Patio Cleaner or Spray Cleaner.

Cleaning a grayed fence

For a greyed fence, the wood must first be de-greyed. The Osmo Power-Gel Wood De-greaser is the perfect product for this. You can easily apply this gel to the wood with a brush. Let the Power-Gel soak in for 20 minutes, then scrub the greyed fence with a stiff brush. Afterwards, rinse the fence with water. After de-greying, the fence can be treated with an Osmo Stain of your choice.

3 tips for the best result

1. Always test

Osmo offers you a wide range of products. We know firsthand that it is difficult to find the best product for your wood. That is why Osmo offers free sachets (testers) to test the product on your wood.

2. Brushes

We recommend treating exterior wood with many grooves using a brush or floor brush. The reason for this is that brushes can penetrate deeper into the wood grain.

3. Money-saving tip

Use the Osmo Brush Cleaner to clean your Osmo tools. After cleaning with this product, you can use the brushes or other tools again. This is good for both your wallet and the environment.
