Step-by-step plan: Applying furniture paint
Anyone can apply furniture paint; you just need to know exactly what to look out for. We are happy to provide you with a step-by-step guide for applying furniture paint.
- Remove old paint. Use white spirit, paint remover, or sandpaper for this. Also remove any locks and metal parts; you can put these back later. If they cannot be removed, it is advisable to tape them off. Ensure the surface is smooth and dry.
- Clean the furniture thoroughly and remove all dust. Use a dust cloth or a damp cloth with water for this. Be careful not to use too much water, as wooden furniture does not tolerate it well.
- Stir the product well so that the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Next, apply a thin layer of the furniture paint with a polishing cloth. This ensures that not too much product is applied and that the paint dries evenly. Always polish along the wood grain for the best result. Allow the product to dry for at least 24 hours. Ensure the room is well ventilated during drying.
- The second coat of the product should be applied with a brush or roller for full coverage. Use a brush for small surfaces and corners. For larger surfaces, you can use a roller. Allow this coat to dry for at least 24 hours as well and ventilate the room well.
- For optimal protection of your furniture, you can apply another coat of Hardwax-Olie Original. This product will ensure that your furniture remains optimally protected against moisture, dirt, and damage. Allow the Hardwax-Olie to dry for 8-12 hours. Once the top coat is completely dry, your furniture is ready for intensive use.
