Supplies for staining garden furniture
Garden furniture stain is suitable for all types of outdoor wood.
Our garden furniture oil is suitable for every type of outdoor wood. You can use the stain for your garden furniture, but also for a garden shed, fence, or wooden deck, for example. If you are a fan of the natural wood look, we recommend the Osmo Natural Oil Stain. The wood grain remains clearly visible after applying this stain. If you want the wood to continue looking like new, it is best to choose a transparent oil with color pigment. Do you not mind if the wood turns gray over time? Then you can opt for the colorless matte stain. This stain offers no protection against UV radiation, causing the wood to gray eventually. The pigment in the colored oils ensures that these oils do protect against UV radiation. Incidentally, the various Osmo stains protect just as well against moisture, mold, and algae.
Staining garden furniture that has been outdoors for a while?
Is your garden furniture currently untreated, but has it been outdoors for quite some time? In that case, the wood will most likely already be somewhat greyed. You can remove the greying from the wood using our Power-Gel. Subsequently, you can treat the wood with the garden furniture stain. Has the wood already been treated with another product? Then it is important to sand the garden furniture first. You can also use the Osmo Paint Remover Gel to remove paint from the wood.
Please keep in mind that old wood and wood that has been left outdoors untreated will generally absorb more stain. In this case, you will therefore need to purchase slightly more stain than is recommended for new wood. However, it is not a bad idea to always purchase more outdoor furniture stain than is initially necessary. After all, the garden furniture oil can also be used for maintenance and to touch up surfaces later.

The garden furniture stain can also be opaque. Do you prefer not to have a natural wood look, but would you like to give your garden furniture a bright color, for example? Then we recommend choosing Osmo Country House Paint. Just like the transparent garden furniture oil, this stain is suitable for any type of outdoor wood. Thanks to the color pigment, the opaque garden furniture stain provides excellent protection against UV radiation. At Osmo, we offer various garden furniture stain colors. In total, there are 21 colors to choose from, 6 of which are RAL colors. You can also mix these garden furniture stain colors together.
Treating teak garden furniture
It does not matter much which type of wood you want to treat; Osmo garden furniture stain is suitable in almost all cases. The stain is also suitable as a base coat, meaning you no longer need a separate primer. It is important to stir the stain well before applying it. Furthermore, we recommend always testing first whether the stain adheres well and whether the result is to your liking. You can apply the stain using a brush. As soon as the first coat is dry, you can apply a second coat. Mistakes can still be corrected up to 15 minutes after applying the paint.
The benefits of Osmo garden furniture oil
Our garden furniture stains are oil-based and consist entirely of natural ingredients. Many stains from other manufacturers are water-based, but garden furniture oil has a number of important advantages. The oil is well absorbed by the wood, thus protecting it from the inside out. The wood can continue to breathe after you have treated it with oil. Water-based garden furniture stains will often peel off sooner and protect the wood less effectively. Moreover, with garden furniture oil, it is easy to touch up the wood locally.
