Removing rings from your wooden table without sanding: how to restore the protection properly

Are you dealing with rings on your wooden table? There is a good chance that the protective layer of your table is no longer sufficient. If you have an oiled table, it is possible to remove the rings without sanding. The easiest way to remove the rings depends on how deep they have penetrated the wood. Read on for our advice for each type of ring.

Benefits of Spray-Cleaner

  • Effective cleaning
  • Cleans without damaging the surface
  • Protects and maintains the surface
  • Easy to use
  • Suitable for all types of wood

First try: Spray-Cleaner

When removing rings from your table, it is important not to use household remedies such as vinegar or green soap. While these may remove the rings in some cases, they also strip the protective layer from your wooden table. It is better to use Osmo’s cleaning product: Spray-Cleaner. This product contains a small amount of wax, which nourishes the wood and prevents it from drying out.

Spray-Cleaner is recommended when the rings have not penetrated deeply into the wood. Solutions for stubborn rings are explained later in this blog.

Instructions for use:

  1. Before cleaning, remove crumbs and other debris from the surface.
  2. Spray the Spray-Cleaner onto your wooden table. The product does not need to be diluted with water.
  3. Clean the surface using Easy Pad Polishing Cloths.

Advice for removing stubborn rings from your wooden table

Are you struggling with stubborn rings on your wooden table that cannot be removed with a cleaning product? There is a good chance that the protective layer of your table is no longer sufficient. If you have an oiled table, it is possible to remove the rings without sanding. After removing the rings, it is important to properly maintain the table. We therefore recommend using the Renovation Kit in combination with Osmo White and Green Pads.

The Renovation Kit contains Osmo Intensive Cleaner. With Osmo Intensive Cleaner, you can remove the rings from your wooden table. To prevent new rings from forming, we recommend polishing a layer of Osmo Maintenance Oil afterwards. Below is a clear step-by-step guide for removing rings and oiling your table.

Make sure the table is free of dust or large debris before you begin. Then you can start cleaning the rings:

  1. Prepare the cleaning solution. Dilute the Intensive Cleaner with lukewarm water depending on the severity of the rings: 1:20 for light rings or 1:10 for more stubborn ones. The less you dilute, the stronger the effect.
  2. Apply the cleaner using the Hand Cleaning Set, which contains a Hand Pad Holder and a Green Pad. We recommend scrubbing the entire table thoroughly with the Green Pad.
  3. Remove the loosened dirt with a damp cloth. Ensure that all cleaning solution is completely removed before moving to the next step.
  4. After the surface has fully dried, treat the cleaned area with Osmo Maintenance Oil.
