Treat IKEA kitchen countertop

Osmo TopOil is ideal for all types of IKEA kitchen countertops, as long as the surface is wooden and unvarnished. It is recommended to treat your countertop as soon as you get it, so sanding is not necessary. After treatment, your countertop is immediately protected against stains, moisture, and scratches. TopOil is made from natural, plant-based oils and waxes and is food-safe as well as harmless to humans, animals, and plants.

To treat your countertop, you will need the following:

• Osmo TopOil in a color of your choice
• A brush, roller, and pad for applying the product

Once you have everything ready, you can get started immediately.

1. Shake the product for 2 minutes to ensure the oil and wax are well mixed.
2. Apply the TopOil with a white pad or brush on your new or sanded countertop.
3. Polish with the white pad, working along the wood grain.
4. Within 20 minutes, wipe the countertop with a fleece pad or polishing cloth, again following the wood grain, to remove any excess product.
5. Made a mistake? Marks can be corrected within 30 minutes while the surface is still wet.
6. Drying may take 8–10 hours. Ensure sufficient ventilation.
7. For the best result, we recommend applying 3–4 layers. If you choose to brush or roll only, two layers are sufficient.

Once your countertop is treated, the surface is now protected against scratches, moisture, and dirt. You will not need to worry about the countertop for some time, apart from occasional maintenance.

Have you applied a new protective layer to your countertop? Use Spray-Cleaner to keep your beautiful wooden countertop clean. If you notice worn spots on the surface, treat them with Liquid Maintenance Wax: spray it onto the countertop and polish over the worn areas. Let it dry for 40 minutes to an hour, and you will see that the wear has disappeared.
