Treating a wooden table for outdoor use
A wooden table intended for outdoor use must be well protected. This is because the wood is exposed to various weather conditions, which can cause it to gray, rot, and develop mold. Treating and protecting the wood will extend the lifespan of the wooden table and ensure it retains its beautiful appearance. Thanks to the many colors in the assortment, any desired look is possible.

How to treat a wooden table outdoors?
- Ensure the wood is clean. If the wood has already been treated with another product, it is advisable to perform a test first to see if the Natural Oil Stain adheres to the existing layer. Otherwise, the table must be sanded down to bare wood. Has the wooden table turned grey? Then first use the Osmo Power-Gel Wood Degreaser. This product restores the natural color of the wood.
- Stir the product well for 2 minutes. This is because the oils and pigments have separated after opening the can. Always perform a test on the surface first to check if the result has the desired effect.
- Apply the first coat of Natural Oil Stain thinly with a brush or block brush. Do you prefer rolling? Then use an Osmo Microfiber roller.
- Errors that occurred during application can be corrected on the wet surface up to 15 minutes after application. Examples include roller marks or brush hairs.
- The drying of the first coat takes approximately 8-12 hours (at 23 degrees and 50% relative humidity). At lower temperatures or higher humidity, drying takes longer. Good ventilation must be ensured at all times. Therefore, make sure that windows and doors are open.
- Apply the second finishing coat. Apply this in the same way as the first coat.
- Drying in approx. 8-12 hours; see point 4.

Tips: Treating a wooden (indoor) table for outdoor use
Do you want to treat your indoor table for outdoor use, or place it outside? Keep in mind that the sun shines, and it rains, hails, and snows. The weather therefore has a significant impact on your wooden indoor table that you intend to put outside. That is why it is important to protect the wood with a good product that provides long-lasting protection and does not need to be reapplied every year. Osmo Natural Oil Stain is the perfect product for treating a wooden table. Thanks to the 20 different color variations, a beautiful look can be achieved for everyone. The colors have been named after a type of wood, but are not only suitable for treating the specific wood type. For example, 708 Teak can be perfectly applied to an oak outdoor table.
Would you prefer to treat your indoor table for outdoors with an opaque product?
The Natural Oil Stain gives the wood a transparent coloring, so it is not opaque. The wood structure and grain remain visible after treatment. Are you looking for a more opaque product for treating an outdoor table? Then Osmo Country House Paint is the right product. This product provides an opaque effect on the wood; for example, painting the table legs black can create a cool look. Curious about all the possibilities for treating outdoor wood? Maintaining your wooden outdoor table
After treatment, the outdoor wooden table is sufficiently protected against rain, snow, UV radiation, and mold. Therefore, it is no problem to leave the wooden table outside all year round. The treatment usually lasts between 3 and 6 years. If you notice that the quality is deteriorating over time, simply clean the wood and easily apply a new coat. Sanding is not necessary because the oil stain will not peel.
Cleaning
Do you want to clean the table? Then use the Osmo Outdoor Spray Cleaner. This handy cleaner not only cleans the wooden table but also nourishes the treatment. Cleaning with water alone causes the wood to dry out. The Spray Cleaner, on the other hand, prevents this! That is why we recommend cleaning a wooden table with this product occasionally.
Removing Gray
Has the wooden table turned gray? Then the Power-Gel Wood Remover is the right product! With the Power-Gel, you will restore the natural color of the wood in no time. Apply, let it soak in, scrub, and the table looks great again! Afterwards, it is recommended to apply a new coat of Natural Oil Stain to the wooden table.

Can you put a wooden (indoor) table outside?
Do you have an indoor table that you would like to place outside? That is possible, but please note. Most of these tables are primarily suitable for indoor use. Therefore, it is recommended to place the wooden table outside for 6 weeks without treating it first. We call this weathering, and it means the table needs to acclimate to outdoor conditions. The wood is suddenly exposed to different temperatures, UV radiation, and rain. After these 6 weeks of acclimatization, the table will have turned grey; this can be slightly grey or completely grey. We then recommend first de-greying the wood with Osmo Power-Gel. And after de-greying, the table can be treated with two coats of Osmo Natural Oil Stain.
