Description
Colorless joint filler for filling cracks and knots in wooden floors, walls, or furniture. This quality product is characterized by its extremely high filling strength, short drying time, and good sanding properties. Osmo Joint Filler is combined with sanding dust and offers the advantage of an exact color match to existing substrates.
Using Joint Filler
Osmo Joint Filler is suitable for filling small joints (<2 mm) and minor damage such as scratches on wooden floors. Wooden floors should be sanded down to the untreated wood before treatment; the floor must be free of oil, grease, and dirt.
Applying Joint Filler
Mix the Joint Filler thoroughly before application to prevent any separation. Add sanding dust, preferably of the same type of wood with a grain size of 80-120, to a thick paste (increase by approximately 15% by adding sanding dust). The correct paste composition is important for proper application. If it is too thick, there may be insufficient adhesion to the sides of the knot, and the filler may be removed during sanding. If the paste is too thin, it will leave unfilled knots. Fibrous sanding dust (especially from tropical woods) can compromise the properties of the mixture, preventing holes and knots from being properly filled. In this case, limit the amount of sanding dust. It is advisable to mix the sanding dust and paste in a separate container.
Fill the floor diagonally with a Double Blade Scraper, while simultaneously pressing the paste firmly into the knots. Repeat this process if necessary. After 30-60 minutes, the dried paste can be sanded coarsely (80 grit) and then finely (100-120 grit) to ensure that no wood paste remains on the parquet. Fine sanding with 100-120 grit is usually sufficient. Afterward, treatment with various Osmo finishes can be applied. Dirt or stains left by the Osmo Sealant can be quickly cleaned with water.
Sealant Consumption
One liter is approximately sufficient for 10-15m² with one coat. Product consumption depends largely on the properties of the wood. All information applies to smooth, planed, and sanded surfaces. Other surfaces may result in different consumption levels.
Sealant Drying Time
The drying time is approximately 30-60 minutes (at 23°C/50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may affect the drying time.
Ventilate well during drying.
Note: Sealant mixture and application depend greatly on the type of wood and the sanding dust; performing a test run is essential.
