Step-by-step plan: treating hardwood indoors

For indoor hardwood, we recommend Osmo Blanke Was, a product specifically developed for hardwoods such as meranti, wenge, and merbau. This product provides a natural wet look without shine and protects the wood against moisture and dirt.

Follow these steps for a perfect result:

1

To sand

  • Use sandpaper with grit 40/80/120 if it has a treatment other than oil.
  • Is the wood already oiled? Create a test area to check if a new layer adheres well.

2

Apply first layer

  • Apply a very thin layer of Osmo
  • Use approximately 35 ml per m².

  • Apply another thin layer and repeat the process.
  • Allow the surface to dry completely before putting it into use.

Treating hardwood outdoors

For outdoor hardwood, it is important to protect it against rain, UV radiation, and graying. You do this by removing the graying from the wood and treating it with a suitable oil. This way, the wood lasts longer.

Sanding (if necessary)

  • Use grit 40/80/120 if there is an old finish on the wood.
