Can underfloor heating also be used with wooden floors?

Yes, underfloor heating is also suitable for wooden floors. However, please note that not all wooden floors are suitable for underfloor heating.

Suitable floors are made of engineered wood planks. These planks consist of a plywood underlay and a wooden top layer. The wooden top layer is not too thick so that the heat is optimally conducted to the floor and the rest of the house. Good wood types for engineered wood planks are: oak, walnut, and teak.

Which wood is not suitable for underfloor heating?

Floors made of solid wood are not suitable for underfloor heating. The combination of solid wood and underfloor heating is guaranteed to cause problems. Due to temperature differences, the wooden planks can warp. And that is, of course, not the intention.

Treating wooden floors with Osmo

Wooden floors that are suitable for underfloor heating are also very suitable for treatment with Osmo. There are various products that can be applied. Below you can see the different products and the appearance they create.

Osmo Hardwax-Oil Original

This product is colorless and colors the wood as if it were wet. The Hardwax Oil deepens the color of the wood, making it slightly darker. Thanks to the excellent protection provided by the Hardwax Oil, the wooden floor will last for many years. The image on the right shows an example of Hardwax Oil Original on oak wood.

Osmo Hardwax Oil Farbig/Natural

These are the colored variants of the Hardwax Oil. These products contain color pigments and color the wood evenly. The finish is transparently colored, not opaque. There are a total of eight colors in the range. Four examples of the colors are shown in the slider on the right.

Osmo Oil Stain

The Oil Stain creates a wash effect, perhaps familiar from white wash. In this case, the wood grain is primarily colored. This creates a very beautiful effect. The color examples show two possible options. On the left, one coat of Oil Stain has been applied. On the right, the product has been applied twice.
