Treating wooden wall panels

The wooden wall panels are available in various wood types. Each wood type has its own natural look and color. Additionally, the panels can be treated with Osmo interior products. A treatment ensures that the wood is protected against moisture and dirty, greasy hands. It also ensures that the wood will discolor less quickly.

Which treatment for a wooden wall panel?

A colorless treatment colors the wall panels as if they have been wet, bringing out the wood grain more prominently. A colorless treatment can be performed using Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original.

If you have oak wall panels or panels made of another light wood type, a treatment with Hardwax-Olie Effect Natural can give them a very beautiful appearance. This product colors the wood as if it were untreated.

You can also opt for a wash effect, where the wood grain is colored. This can give the wall panels a very beautiful look. A wash effect can be created with Osmo Olie-Beits.

For a more even coloring of the wood, Osmo Hardwax-Olie Farbig is the right product. This variant is available in 7 different colors.

Are you opting for a Hardwax-Olie to treat the wall panels? Then you can apply the Hardwax-Olie with a brush or microfiber roller. Apply the Osmo thinly! This is very important for the adhesion of the Hardwax-Olie. Normally, we recommend applying two coats for wooden floors and tables. This is also possible for wooden wall panels. However, it is not strictly necessary, as a wooden wall panel naturally wears less than a wooden floor.

If you choose the Osmo Olie-Beits, it is advisable to buff it; this can be done with the Easy pad buffing cloths. With these, you can apply the Osmo Olie-Beits evenly and thinly to the wood. Apply the Olie-Beits in the direction of the wood grain, working from top to bottom (or vice versa), and let it soak in for 20 minutes. Afterwards, wipe away the excess product with another lint-free cloth, also following the plank and wood grain. For better protection, you could apply another layer of Hardwax-Olie Original (one coat with a brush or roll on with a microfiber roller).
