How many coats should I apply?

Two coats on untreated or bare-sanded wood are sufficient for good protection. For renovations, one coat is often sufficient.

Should I apply more than two coats for better protection?

No, two coats are sufficient. If you apply more than two coats, the Dekkende Beits may not adhere.

How should I apply the Dekkende Beits?

You can apply the product with a block brush or a flat brush. The brush is best for the edges, and the block brush is best for larger areas of the surface. Apply the stain thinly to the surface and brush it in thoroughly to avoid streaks.

How much stain should I use?

On new and sanded wood, the stain covers 16m² per litre. You can calculate how many litres you need using the handy consumption meter. Old wood or wood that has been left untreated outdoors often absorbs more product, requiring more Dekkende Beits than recommended. Therefore, always purchase slightly more product than for the recommended square metres. You can maintain and refinish the surface with the stain.

Why should I let wood weather first?

Tropical hardwoods and other wood species rich in extractives, such as oak, robinia and larch, should first be left to weather outdoors for a few weeks. This washes out the extractives and helps the stain adhere better.

How do I clean brushes, pads, and rollers?

You can use soap and water. The opaque stain is water-based, so tools used for applying the stain can be cleaned with soap and water.

Osmo Dekkende Beits 7716 Antraciet RAL 7016 is an opaque, water-based stain in dark anthracite grey for exterior wood such as cladding, fences, garden sheds and carports. The dark grey tone gives wood a sleek, modern look. The stain is extremely weather-resistant, protects against UV radiation and will not flake. Apply two coats with a brush, microfibre roller or spray gun; with a drying time of 3 to 4 hours, the second coat can go on the same day. Not suitable for terraces and decking. Thanks to the RAL code, you can easily match the colour to other elements. Always test the colour on an offcut first.

Once dry, the stain is safe for humans, animals, and plants, and is also suitable for treating children's toys such as playground equipment. Osmo Dekkende Beits is suitable for treating almost all exterior wood, such as facades, fences, gates, garden sheds, garden furniture, and carports. The Dekkende Beits is not suitable for patios and decking. Osmo Dekkende Beits dries after just 3 to 4 hours. This means the wood can be treated with two coats in one day.

Water-Based Dekkende Beits

This Osmo stain is water-based. This makes it easy to apply and quick-drying. Despite being water-based, it provides excellent protection against water and dirt. The stain will not flake or crack. Applying a renovation coat to wood is very easy; no sanding is required.

Sprayable Stain

Because Osmo Dekkende Beits is water-based, it can be sprayed onto the wood. This is an easy and quick way to apply the stain. Of course, the product can also be applied with an Osmo microfiber roller or brush.

Available in 0.75L and 2.5L sizes.
1L is sufficient for approximately 16 m² with one coat.

Note: Rough, old, or untreated wood often absorbs more product, so you will need more Osmo Dekkende Beits than recommended.
