What is the drying time for Hardwax-Olie Rapid?

4 to 6 hours at approximately 20°C and 50% relative humidity. At lower temperatures or higher humidity, drying takes longer. The product must dry naturally. Therefore, ensure good ventilation at all times, so make sure to open windows and doors after treatment.

Why do cloths saturated with Osmo need to be rinsed?

Cloths used for applying or polishing Osmo must be rinsed with water because they pose a risk of spontaneous combustion. Therefore, always rinse cloths with water before disposing of them in the trash.

Can I also treat MDF, veneer, and OSB?

Yes, all these surfaces can be treated with Hardwax-Olie.

Can I also touch up spots?

Yes, for localized scratches or worn areas, you can tape off the affected plank and sand it with 120 grit. Then check if the plank is even. If so, you can apply a new coat of Hardwax-Olie. If the plank requires a coarser sanding, you can start with 40 grit, then 80 grit, and finish with 120 grit. Then you can apply two coats of Hardwax-Olie.

Can I correct mistakes during application?

Mistakes that occur during application can be touched up on the wet surface up to 30 minutes after application. This includes roller marks or brush bristles.Once the surface has dried, mistakes can also be repaired locally. Tape off the affected plank and sand it with 120 grit. Then, apply a new coat of Hardwax-Olie. After 20 minutes, buff away any excess product along the grain of the wood.

When can floors treated with Osmo Hardwax-Olie be accessed again, and when can I put my furniture back in the room?

Newly treated surfaces can be accessed once the Hardwax-Olie has dried for approximately 24 hours. Furniture with legs that allow air to circulate underneath can also be put back after approximately 24 hours. Items that do not allow air to circulate underneath, such as rugs, should not be placed on the floor for two weeks until the Hardwax-Olie has fully cured.

Description

Osmo Hardwax-Olie Rapid 3232 semi-matt and 3262 matt create a colorless protection for most wooden floors. Check under "Documents" to see if your wood type is also suitable for treatment with Hardwax-Olie Rapid. This finish dries faster than Hardwax-Olie Original Colorless. Rapid is an oil- and wax-based product, which provides a protective surface after treatment. The product uses a two-layer system: the first layer is fully absorbed into the wood, while the second layer hardens in the upper pores of the wood. The surface appearance is very natural, as the product emphasizes the color of the wood. By wetting the untreated wood, you can get an impression of the appearance after treatment with Osmo Hardwax-Olie Rapid 3232 and 3262; a permanent wet look is created after treatment. This applies when using only Hardwax-Olie Rapid. Applying a color first and then a coat of Rapid to the wood won't create a wet-look effect. Thanks to Rapid's fast-drying properties, you can create a fully finished surface within 4-6 hours.

There is also a white version of Hardwax-Olie Rapid, 3240. This version has the same color as Hardwax-Olie Farbig 3040, but dries faster.

Hardwax-Olie Rapid Fast-Drying
Hardwax-Olie Rapid is the fast-drying version of Hardwax-Olie Original and should therefore be applied in exactly the same way. In two days, with two coats, you can treat the wooden surface with Osmo Rapid, making it completely ready for use. Each coat of Hardwax-Olie Rapid has a drying time of 4 to 6 hours.

Note: For surfaces already treated with Osmo or another brand or product, always perform a test first. For renovations, it is always recommended to apply a maximum of one coat. If more than one coat is applied, there is a chance that the second coat will not adhere, making it easy to scratch off.
