What kind of look do you create with Osmo Decorwas Transparant?

This product creates a wash effect. A wash effect primarily colors the wood grain.

How should I prepare the wood?

Before applying Osmo Decorwas Transparant, it's important that the wood is sanded bare or untreated. Remove all dust with a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner. To sand the wood bare, you need to sand the floor with three different grit sizes: first with 40 grit, then with 80 grit, and finish with 120 grit.

On which surfaces can Decorwas Transparant be applied?

Decorwas Transparant can be applied indoors to floors, stairs, furniture, tables, interior doors, window frames, walls and ceilings. For countertops, worktops and kitchen fronts, we recommend Osmo TopOil. Decorwas Transparant is suitable for most light European wood species, such as oak, ash, spruce, pine and birch. For tropical woods like jatoba and wenge, Osmo offers Blanke Was. This is a clear oil specifically for tropical woods.

In which direction of the wood should I apply the product?

Along the length of the plank, along the grain. Apply thinly and roll out the product well.

How many coats should I apply?

For one coat of Osmo Decorwas Transparant, two coats of Hardwax-Olie should be applied.

Why should I apply Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original over the Decorwas Transparant?

The surface will wear into the colorless layer over time, making it easy to touch up with a colorless product without creating color shifts.

If I finish the layer with Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original, will it create a wet-look effect?

No, because the first layer determines the color.

What is the gloss level of Osmo Decorwas Transparant?

Decorwas Transparant dries to a semi-gloss finish. We recommend always finishing Decorwas Transparant with Hardwax-Olie Original for optimal protection. Hardwax-Olie is available in 4 gloss levels.

How should I apply the Decorwas Transparant?

You can apply it by polishing with the white pad in a circular motion. Within 20 minutes, remove any excess product with the fleece pad. Always polish in the direction of the wood grain. This prevents streaks.

How do I clean brushes and rollers?

You can do this with Osmo Kwastenreiniger. Place the Kwastenreiniger in a small container. Let the brush soak for a few hours and then rinse the tools with water. Dry the tools afterwards and store them in a dry place.

Osmo Decorwas Transparant 3101 Kleurloos is the clear variant of the Decorwas for wooden furniture, kitchens and doors indoors. The wood is not coloured and keeps its own tone and pattern. You apply the Decorwas by buffing it out with a white pad or lint-free cloth. For surfaces that see little wear and do not get wet, such as the inside of a cupboard, the Decorwas alone can be enough. Elsewhere, finish with two coats of Hardwax-Olie Original. Test first on an offcut.

Decorwas Transparant: ideal for creating a wash effect

Osmo Decorwas Transparant is perfect for creating a subtle wash effect. This product is suitable for wooden floors, stairs, furniture, interior doors, window frames, walls and ceilings indoors, and also for wooden toys. When combined with Hardwax-Olie Original, Osmo Decorwas Transparant provides excellent protection against water, beer, wine and other liquids. After treatment, the surface is durable, water-repellent and dirt-resistant.

Note: Unlike Hardwax-Olie, this product must be applied using an Osmo Pad or a lint-free cloth. More information about applying Decorwas Transparant can be found under the heading “Application Instructions.”

Finishing with Hardwax-Olie Original

After one coat of Decorwas Transparant (wash effect), we recommend finishing with two coats of Hardwax-Olie Original. This ensures the surface is protected against moisture and dirt while also being wear-resistant

Please note: Hardwax-Olie Original must be applied with a roller.
