How should I prepare the wood?

Before applying the Hardwax-Olie, it's important that the wood is bare-sanded or untreated. Remove all dust with a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner. To bare-sand the wood, you need to sand the floor with three different grit sizes: first with 40 grit, then with 80 grit, and finish with 120 grit. If you're only renovating, sanding with 120 grit is sufficient. Apply a maximum of one coat to the wood.

8 to 12 hours at approximately 20°C and 50% relative humidity. At lower temperatures or higher humidity, drying takes longer. The product must dry naturally. Therefore, ensure good ventilation at all times, so make sure to open windows and doors after treatment.

On which surfaces can Hardwax-Olie be applied?

Hardwax-Olie Anti-Slip is intended for indoor wooden floors and stairs where extra slip resistance is needed, such as stairs, stages and dance floors. It is also suitable for OSB and cork floors. For furniture, tables and worktops we recommend Osmo TopOil. For tropical woods, Osmo offers Blanke Was. This is a clear oil specifically formulated for tropical woods.

If you want to apply a new coat to the wood and it has already been treated, you have two options. 1. Clean with Osmo Intensiefreiniger and then treat with Osmo Onderhoudsolie. The maintenance oil is a diluted version of Hardwax-Olie and adheres well to previously treated wood. 2. Sand with 120 grit. Then apply a new thin coat with a microfiber roller or brush/floor brush. Both options should always be tested first in an inconspicuous area.

Yes, for localized scratches or worn areas, you can tape off the affected plank and sand it with 120 grit. Then check if the plank is even. If so, you can apply a new coat of Hardwax-Olie Anti-Slip. If the plank requires a coarser sanding, you can do so first with 40 grit, then 80 grit, and finish with 120 grit. Then you can apply two coats of Hardwax-Olie Anti-Slip.

How do I clean brushes and rollers?

You can do this with Osmo Kwastenreiniger. Place the Kwastenreiniger in a small container or cup. Let the brushes soak for a few hours and then rinse the tools with water.
