How do you paint a wooden ceiling?

Once you have decided to paint your wooden ceiling, it is a good idea to get the right products. Osmo Hardwax-Olie Farbig has a transparent color, so it will not color the woodwork opaquely, but transparently instead. The original Hardwax-Olie gives a wet-look effect, which only makes the surface a little darker. Prefer an opaque effect? Choose one of the ten colors of Osmo Decorwas Creativ and apply the product. Always paint in the direction of the wood grain. Would you like a wash effect? Then apply the product with a cloth, buffing it in.

Should you paint a wooden ceiling or not?

Still not sure whether you really want to paint the ceiling? Rest assured that painting a wooden ceiling does not have to be difficult! The most important thing is to apply the product evenly and to choose the right color. Which color is best depends on your personal preference. Check the dimensions of the ceiling beforehand, so you are sure to buy enough product. It is also useful to know whether the ceiling has been varnished before. You can often see or even feel this. Painting a ceiling has a big impact on a room, so it is a great idea to refresh your ceiling or give it a completely new color!

Painting a varnished wooden ceiling

Can you see that your wooden ceiling has been varnished? Then we recommend that you start by sanding. This gives a better end result and makes sure the new finish adheres well to the wood. Start sanding the ceiling with grit 40 and then continue with grit 80. Finish with grit 120 for the best results. Once the surface has been sanded, you can paint the ceiling. Always paint along the boards or in the direction of the wood grain.
