Finishing a cutting board indoors
The best Osmo finishes for your indoor cutting board
The best way to finish your indoor cutting board is with Osmo Snijplank Olie, because a cutting board comes into direct contact with knife work, so only a food-safe oil is suitable.

Oil for a wooden cutting board
Treat a wooden cutting board with Osmo Snijplank Olie. It is food-safe and made from natural, plant-based oils and waxes. The wood is not sealed with varnish but can keep breathing, and once dry it is protected against water, fruit juice and coffee.
Snijplank Olie 3099
Snijplank Olie 3099 is clear and dries to a matt finish. The wood becomes slightly deeper in colour, as if it has been wetted, which brings out the grain beautifully. Apply the oil thinly with a lint-free cloth or pad, following the grain, and buff away the excess. Let the board dry for 8 to 10 hours before using it again. One litre covers about 24 m² per coat.
Cleaning after use
After cutting meat, fish or vegetables, rinse the board with water and a little washing-up liquid. Then dry it and leave it to dry standing upright, so air can reach both sides. Do not put the board in the dishwasher or leave it lying in water. Cleaning it now and then with the Spray-Cleaner nourishes the wood and stops it from drying out.
When to treat it again
If the board looks dull or feels dry and rough, it is time for a new thin coat of Snijplank Olie. When renovating, apply no more than one coat, otherwise the second coat will not adhere well.
Serving boards and kitchen countertops
For a serving board, you can also use TopOil. It is also food-safe and suitable for tables and kitchens. If you are also treating a wooden kitchen countertop, use TopOil there.
