Osmo Clear Wax is an oil- and wax-based product, but with a minimal wax content. This is beneficial for hardwoods, as they are naturally somewhat greasier. The small wax content makes it easier for hardwoods to absorb the Clear Wax. Due to its excellent water-repellent properties, it is also very suitable for treating wood in damp areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and swimming pools. After treatment, the hardwood oil protects against wear, dirt, and moisture and can be reapplied locally. Important: Always test the wood surface first to ensure the floor absorbs the product well and to determine the desired result. For American walnut indoors, use Osmo TopOil on tables and furniture and Osmo Blanke Was on floors. Both penetrate the wood and bring out the deep chocolate brown colour and the fine grain, without leaving a thick layer on the surface.
A walnut tabletop or sideboard has to cope with a lot of coffee, wine and grease. TopOil is made for exactly that: food safe, water repellent and easy to touch up locally. For a floor, choose Blanke Was, applied thinly along the grain.
On dark wood such as American walnut, a fully matt oil can leave a light, white haze. For TopOil, choose 3028 clear satin matt rather than 3058 matt.
Walnut changes colour under the influence of daylight and gradually becomes warmer in tone. An oil or wax finish lets this natural process happen gently, so the wood stays even. Always test a finish on offcuts first.
Keep a table or cabinet in good condition with the Spray-Cleaner. Mop a floor with Wisch-Fix and refresh worn areas with the Vloeibare Onderhoudswas. If you have European walnut at home, also take a look at walnut indoors.
