Finish a wooden wall, wall panelling or ceiling with Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original or Osmo Decorwas Transparant. A wall or ceiling sees little wear. So what matters most is that the wood stays attractive, does not yellow and does not get a shiny layer.
Clear or coloured
For a clear finish, use Hardwax-Olie Original, preferably in 3032 satin matt or 3062 matt. If you want colour, buff one coat of Decorwas Transparant onto the wood. The colour mainly soaks into the grain, so the pattern of the wood stays visible. On a wall that does not come into contact with moisture, one coat of Decorwas can be enough.
Keeping it light or a white wash
For a light, Scandinavian look, choose Decorwas 3111 Wit. On pine, spruce or fir, the white tint also counteracts the yellowing of the wood. Always test a colour first on a loose piece of the same board. Read more in treating wooden wall panels.
Kitchen and bathroom
If the panelling is in a kitchen or bathroom, the wood does have to cope with steam and splashes. There, first treat the bare wood with Houtbeschermer as a primer against mould and finish with Hardwax-Olie Original, also over a coat of Decorwas. With sheet material, treat the edges well too. Easy application
Work in thin coats, board by board or panel by panel along the full length, to avoid lap marks. On the ceiling, use a roller on an extension pole. Because a wall hardly wears, it needs almost no maintenance: dusting with a dry cloth is usually enough. For fir and spruce, also see spruce indoors.
