Hardwoods (tropical woods) often have the tendency to absorb products like Osmo Hardwax-Oil with greater difficulty. Therefore, Osmo developed Clear Wax, which is suitable for most hardwoods. Osmo Clear Wax is an oil- and wax-based product, but with a minimal wax content. This is beneficial for hardwoods, as they are naturally somewhat greasier. The small wax content makes it easier for hardwoods to absorb the Clear Wax. Due to its excellent water-repellent properties, it is also very suitable for treating wood in damp areas, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and swimming pools. After treatment, the hardwood oil protects against wear, dirt, and moisture and can be reapplied locally. Important: Always test the wood surface first to ensure the floor absorbs the product well and to determine the desired result. One liter is sufficient for approximately 24 m² with one coat; this depends greatly on the wood type.

    Osmo Hardwax-Oil Rapid 3232 semi-matt and 3262 matt create a colorless protection for most wooden floors. Rapid is an oil- and wax-based product, which provides a protective surface after treatment. The surface appearance is very natural, as the product emphasizes the color of the wood. By wetting the untreated wood, you can get an impression of the appearance after treatment with Osmo Hardwax-Oil Rapid 3232 and 3262; a permanent wet look is created after treatment. This applies when using only Hardwax-Oil Rapid. Applying a color first and then a coat of Rapid to the wood won't create a wet-look effect. Thanks to Rapid's fast-drying properties, you can create a fully finished surface within 4-6 hours.

Hardwax-Oil Express Drying Time The Express dries within 2 to 3 hours (at the correct temperature of 23°C and 50% humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may increase the drying time. Applying too much can also increase the drying time. Adding Osmo Hardener 6632 can shorten the drying time of this product to 1 to 2 hours. Osmo Hardener 6632 This hardener can be added to Osmo Hardwax-Oil Express to accelerate the drying time to 1 to 2 hours. Please note: after adding the hardener to the Hardwax-Oil Express, the Hardwax-Oil should not be left for longer than 90 minutes. Note: 0.15L of hardener is just enough for 2.5L of Hardwax-Oil Express. If you want to use less Hardwax-Oil, add 6% of the hardener to the product. The pot life after adding the hardener is 90 minutes.

Oil for a wooden floor

Finish an indoor wooden floor with Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original. It combines natural oils and waxes, penetrates the wood and makes the surface hard-wearing, water-repellent and dirt-repellent. If scratches appear along the walkways, you can touch them up locally without sanding the whole floor.

Two thin coats

Apply Hardwax-Olie Original in two thin coats. The first coat penetrates the wood, the second hardens on the surface. Choose the sheen that suits your floor: 3032 satin matt, 3065 semi-matt or 3062 matt. On dark and tropical wood species, 3062 can leave a white haze. In a hurry? Then choose the faster-drying Hardwax-Olie Rapid.

Keeping it light or adding colour

Keep a light oak floor light with Hardwax-Olie Effect Natural 3041, finished with Hardwax-Olie Original. For colour and protection in one, choose Hardwax-Olie Farbig with a clear top coat. For extra grip, for example in a hallway, there is Hardwax-Olie Anti-Slip. For oak, also see oak indoors.

Underfloor heating

An oiled floor works well with underfloor heating. Do turn the heating down while applying and drying, and ventilate the room well. Read more in treating a wooden floor with underfloor heating.

Maintaining an oiled floor

Mop the floor with Wisch-Fix added to the mopping water. It cleans and leaves a thin layer of wax behind. Walkways that turn dull can be refreshed with the Vloeibare Onderhoudswas. Preferably avoid aggressive all-purpose cleaners, as they dry out the finish. If your floor continues onto the stairs, make sure the finishes match.
