Finish a wooden bar indoors with Osmo TopOil. On a bar top, glasses are often wet, drinks get spilled and people lean on it a lot. An oil soaks into the wood and makes the surface water-repellent and stain-resistant, without a layer of lacquer that can scratch or peel.
The bar top
For the top itself, TopOil is the best choice. TopOil is made for tables, kitchens and worktops, is resistant to wine, coffee, beer and water, and is food safe once dry. Apply two thin coats with a brush or roller, or three to four coats with a pad or lint-free cloth. This gives you dense, even protection.
The front and the base
The front, the sides and any footrest have less contact with liquids, but they do get shoes and knocks. Use TopOil here too, so the whole bar has the same look. If you want to give the bar a colour, you can use the coloured versions of TopOil, such as 3037 Wit or 3039 Grafiet, finished with a clear coat. Always test a colour on leftover material first.
Preventing rings
Do not leave wet glasses on the wood all evening and wipe up spilled drinks quickly. If a ring has formed anyway, read how to remove rings from wood.
Maintenance
Clean the bar top with the Spray-Cleaner. For regular maintenance there is the Tafel & Keuken onderhoudsset. If you are also treating a wooden table, finish it in the same way.
