Osmo Hardwax-Oil Rapid 3232 semi-matt and 3262 matt create a colorless protection for most wooden floors. Rapid is an oil- and wax-based product, which provides a protective surface after treatment. The product uses a two-layer system: the first layer is fully absorbed into the wood, while the second layer hardens in the upper pores of the wood. By wetting the untreated wood, you can get an impression of the appearance after treatment with Osmo Hardwax-Oil Rapid 3232 and 3262; a permanent wet look is created after treatment. This applies when using only Hardwax-Oil Rapid. Applying a color first and then a coat of Rapid to the wood won't create a wet-look effect. Thanks to Rapid's fast-drying properties, you can create a fully finished surface within 4-6 hours.

Hardwax-Oil Express Drying Time The Express dries within 2 to 3 hours (at the correct temperature of 23°C and 50% humidity). Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may increase the drying time. Applying too much can also increase the drying time. Adding Osmo Hardener 6632 can shorten the drying time of this product to 1 to 2 hours. Osmo Hardener 6632 This hardener can be added to Osmo Hardwax-Oil Express to accelerate the drying time to 1 to 2 hours. Please note: after adding the hardener to the Hardwax-Oil Express, the Hardwax-Oil should not be left for longer than 90 minutes. Note: 0.15L of hardener is just enough for 2.5L of Hardwax-Oil Express. If you want to use less Hardwax-Oil, add 6% of the hardener to the product. For spruce indoors, use Osmo Hardwax-Olie Original or Osmo Olie-Beits. Spruce is light and soft, and an oil soaks into the wood and makes the surface more resistant to spilled liquids, without losing its light tone.

Which finish for which spruce surface

Treat a spruce floor, stairs or wall with two thin coats of Hardwax-Olie Original. The oil makes the soft wood harder and more hard-wearing and can be touched up locally. For spruce furniture, a table top or worktop, choose TopOil, which is food safe and resistant to coffee, wine and water. The tutorial treating spruce indoors shows it step by step.

Water rings and yellowing

Untreated spruce is prone to water rings and stains, and yellows under the influence of light. An oil finish makes the surface water-repellent. If you want to keep the wood light, first apply Hardwax-Olie Effect Natural 3041, made for light wood species such as spruce, followed by one coat of Hardwax-Olie Original.

White wash or colour

For a Scandinavian white wash, buff on one coat of Olie-Beits in 3501 Wit and finish with two coats of clear Hardwax-Olie Original. For an even colour on a floor, use Hardwax-Olie Farbig. Spruce absorbs colour unevenly because of the difference between soft and hard growth rings, so always test a colour on leftover material first. You will find more background in treating spruce.

Maintaining oiled spruce
