Finish a wooden bathroom vanity with Osmo TopOil, applied in a wet room over a base coat of Osmo Houtbeschermer. TopOil penetrates the wood and makes the surface water-repellent, while the wood can still breathe. In a room with a lot of steam, that matters more than a sealed coat of varnish, which can crack over time.
TopOil for the whole unit
For the washbasin top, fronts, shelves and open cabinets, choose TopOil. It is made for furniture and tops, resistant to water and stains and easy to touch up. Apply two thin coats with a brush or roller, or buff on three to four coats with a pad or cloth, and buff away any excess oil.
Houtbeschermer as a base coat
In a wet room such as the bathroom, first treat the bare wood with Houtbeschermer as a base coat against mould. Then finish with TopOil. Treat the unit on all sides, including the back, underside and sawn edges. Moisture penetrates the wood fastest through untreated edges, causing it to swell.
Tropical wood in the bathroom
If your bathroom vanity is made from an oily tropical wood such as teak, merbau or wenge, you can still simply use TopOil. Maintenance
Wipe away water after showering or washing and keep the unit clean with the Spray-Cleaner. Refresh patches that become dull with the Vloeibare Onderhoudswas. Ventilate the bathroom well and the wood will stay beautiful for a long time.
