Oil for a wooden table
Finish a wooden table indoors with Osmo TopOil. A table has to deal with hot cups, spilt wine and coffee. TopOil penetrates the wood and makes the tabletop stain resistant and water repellent, without a plastic feel. Once dry, the top is food safe.
How to apply TopOil
Sand the tabletop clean and free of dust. Then apply two thin coats of TopOil with a brush or roller, or buff on three to four coats with a pad or lint-free cloth. Do not forget the edges and the underside of the top. Wine or coffee then stays on the surface and is easy to wipe away.
Colour and sheen level
For a clear finish, choose 3028 satin matt or 3058 matt. On dark and tropical wood species, 3058 can leave a greyish haze; use 3028 there. 3068 Natural keeps light wood species such as oak and beech light, for an untreated look. For more colour, options include 3037 Wit, 3061 Acacia and 3039 Grafiet. For oak, also take a look at oak indoors.
Rings and stains
Do not put hot pans directly on the top and wipe up spills quickly. If a ring has formed anyway, read how to remove rings from a wooden table. Touch up a damaged spot locally with a thin coat of TopOil.
Caring for the table
