Oil for Accoya outdoors
Finish Accoya outdoors with Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie on facades, window frames and fences, and with Osmo Terras-Olie on a terrace. Accoya is acetylated wood: it absorbs little moisture and hardly moves. The finish is therefore mainly intended to hold on to the light colour for longer.
Facade and window frame: UV-Beschermingsolie
On vertical wood, apply UV-Beschermingsolie in two coats: two coats of 420 clear, or first a coloured coat followed by a coat of 420. The oil protects against UV light by a factor of 12 compared with untreated wood. If you want to keep the light tone of Accoya, 429 Natural is an option; it is only intended for light wood species. Accoya terrace
UV-Beschermingsolie is not suitable for horizontal surfaces. For an Accoya terrace, choose Terras-Olie in a pigmented colour instead, so the wood greys less quickly. For extra grip, apply Antislip Terras-Olie 430 as a third coat, never directly on bare wood. Read more under terrace.
Preparation
Let new wood weather for at least six weeks first, then clean it. If Accoya has already turned grey, first remove the grey with Power-Gel. On wood that has been treated before, always do a test first. One litre of UV-Beschermingsolie covers about 18 m² per coat.
Maintenance
Clean treated wood with Terrasreiniger and never use a pressure washer. When renovating, apply no more than one new coat, otherwise the second coat will not adhere well. If you deliberately want a silver-grey look, Vergrijzingsbeits gives an even grey colour straight away.
