Oil for afrormosia outdoors
Finish afrormosia outdoors with Osmo Terras-Olie on garden furniture and terraces, and with Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie on window frames, doors and other vertical wood. Afrormosia is a golden-brown African wood that closely resembles teak. Without protection, it turns grey under the influence of sun and rain, sometimes faster than teak.
Garden furniture and terraces
Terras-Olie is made for wooden terraces and garden furniture and protects against water and dirt. The pigmented versions also protect against UV light and so keep the warm colour for longer. 007 Teakolie is clear and offers no UV protection, so the wood turns grey faster than with a pigmented colour. Window frames and doors
For vertical wood, choose UV-Beschermingsolie. Apply two coats: two coats of 420 clear, or first a coloured coat followed by a coat of 420. The oil is not suitable for horizontal surfaces such as a tabletop or terrace. Read more about window frames at window frame.
Preparation
If the wood has already turned grey, first remove the greying with Power-Gel. Let new wood weather for at least six weeks. On previously treated wood, always test first on an inconspicuous spot. One litre of Terras-Olie covers about 24 m² per coat. Rinse used cloths with water afterwards, as cloths soaked in oil can self-ignite.
Maintenance
Clean garden furniture and terraces with Terrasreiniger and never use a pressure washer. If the wood becomes dull, apply one thin coat of Terras-Olie. For a comparison, see teak outdoors.
