Oil for azobe outdoors
Finish azobe outdoors with Osmo Terras-Olie on terraces, decking and jetties, and with Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie on vertical wood. Azobe is a very heavy and hard wood species that is widely used for bank revetments, bridges and terraces. Because it is so dense, an oil soaks in slowly.
Terrace and decking
For horizontal azobe, choose Terras-Olie. The pigmented versions protect against UV light and slow down greying; warm tones such as 014 Massaranduba or 016 Bankirai donker suit the dark azobe. Apply the oil in thin coats and wipe off whatever has not soaked in after a few minutes, so no tacky patches are left behind. Also take a look at terrace.
Grip on wet wood
Decking or a jetty by the water quickly becomes slippery. In that case, apply Antislip Terras-Olie 430 as a third coat over two coats of Terras-Olie. Antislip cannot be applied to bare wood and on its own does not protect enough against moisture.
Posts and vertical wood
For azobe posts, a fence or a facade, choose UV-Beschermingsolie, in two coats. This oil is made for vertical wood and not for terraces. You can read more about posts under posts.
Preparation and maintenance
Let new azobe weather for at least six weeks. Clean the terrace periodically with Terrasreiniger in the mop water and brush along the grain. Never use a pressure washer, because it damages the softer parts of the wood. If the wood has turned grey anyway, first remove the grey with Power-Gel and then apply a new thin coat of Terras-Olie.
