Finish teak outdoors with Osmo Terras-Olie or Osmo Natuurlijke Olie-Beits. Outdoors, teak is mainly used for garden furniture. Without maintenance it naturally turns silver-grey, so a finish is mainly intended for those who want to keep the golden-brown colour.
Terras-Olie for garden furniture
Terras-Olie is made for wooden terraces and garden furniture and protects against water and dirt. The clear 007 Teakolie contains no pigment and offers no protection against UV; the wood is still cared for, but it continues to turn grey. If you want to hold on to the golden-brown colour, choose a pigmented version. Always test with a sample first. Also see garden furniture.
Natuurlijke Olie-Beits 708 Teak
Natuurlijke Olie-Beits is a primer and top coat in one and suitable for all exterior wood. In the colour 708 Teak it gives a warm teak tone with protection against UV. Apply two coats.
Preparation
If a piece of garden furniture has already turned grey, first remove the grey with Power-Gel. It removes the grey layer and green algae. Let new teak weather for at least six weeks. Wipe off excess oil after a few minutes, because teak naturally already contains oil. Read more in treating teak outdoors. One litre of Terras-Olie covers about 24 m² per coat, and one litre of Natuurlijke Olie-Beits about 26 m². Rinse used cloths with water afterwards, because cloths with oil on them can self-ignite.
Maintenance
Clean garden furniture with Terrasreiniger and never use a pressure washer. When renovating, apply no more than one thin coat. For teak indoors, see teak indoors, and for a comparable wood species, see afrormosia outdoors.
