Oil and stain for fraké outdoors
Finish fraké outdoors with Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie, or with Natuurlijke Olie-Beits or Landhuisverf if you want more colour. Fraké is a light, yellowish brown wood species that is more prone to mould outdoors than most tropical hardwoods. A good finish protects the wood against weather, moisture and greying.
UV-Beschermingsolie for facades and fences
For a fraké facade or fence, choose UV-Beschermingsolie. Apply two coats: first a coat with colour and then a coat of 420 clear, or two coats of 420. On light wood, 429 Natural keeps the light colour. The oil is made for vertical wood and not for terraces. Also take a look at facade cladding and fence.
More colour
Natuurlijke Olie-Beits is a primer and top coat in one and suitable for all exterior wood. The pigmented versions protect against UV; the clear 701 does not. For an opaque colour that leaves the wood structure visible, choose Landhuisverf. Read more in fence stain.
Preventing mould
Make sure the wood can dry properly after rain and does not stand directly on the ground. Also treat the sawn edges and the back. If the wood already has green deposits or has turned grey, first remove the grey and clean it with Power-Gel. Let new wood weather for at least six weeks. One litre of UV-Beschermingsolie covers about 18 m² per coat.
Maintenance
Clean treated wood with Terrasreiniger, which also removes algae and mould. Never use a pressure washer. When renovating, apply no more than one new coat. On previously treated wood, always test first on an inconspicuous spot.
