Extremely weather-resistant and UV-protective wood finish for treating exterior wood. Osmo Opaque Stain is a breathable and water-repellent product. Once dry, the stain is safe for humans, animals, and plants, and is also suitable for treating children's toys such as playground equipment. Osmo Opaque Stain is suitable for treating almost all exterior wood, such as facades, fences, gates, garden sheds, garden furniture, and carports. Oil and stain for a wooden canopy
Finish a wooden canopy with Osmo UV-Beschermingsolie on the posts and with Osmo Natuurlijke Olie-Beits on the beams and other parts where water can collect. A canopy stands outdoors all year round and is exposed to sun, rain and wind. The edges and tops of the beams in particular absorb moisture quickly.
UV-Beschermingsolie for vertical wood
UV-Beschermingsolie is made for vertical wood and protects against UV light by a factor of 12 compared with untreated wood. Apply two coats: a coloured coat followed by a coat of 420 clear, or two coats of 420. The oil is not suitable for horizontal surfaces, where water stands for longer.
Natuurlijke Olie-Beits for beams
Natuurlijke Olie-Beits is a primer and top coat in one and suitable for all exterior wood, including horizontal beams. Apply two coats. Pigmented colours protect against UV, the clear 701 does not. If you want to finish the whole canopy with one product, Natuurlijke Olie-Beits is the simplest choice. Also see pergola and carport.
Preparation
Preferably treat the wood before you assemble the canopy, so you can reach everywhere, including joints and end grain. Let new wood weather for at least six weeks. One litre of UV-Beschermingsolie covers about 18 m² per coat, and one litre of Natuurlijke Olie-Beits about 26 m². Rinse used cloths with water afterwards, as cloths soaked in oil can self-ignite.
Maintenance
Check the tops of the beams and the base of the posts every spring. Clean with Terrasreiniger and never use a pressure washer. First remove the greying from greyed wood with Power-Gel.
